In May of 2024, nine journalism students at Central Connecticut State University traveled to Brazil with Prof. Darren Sweeney to learn about the impact of climate change firsthand. Students had a chance to visit the rainforest and meet with experts on the ground, as well as explore the culture of Brazil and see how local residents are coping with and working to combat the side effects of climate change. In addition to updating social media while traveling and writing stories, students also worked to put together a news broadcast, which has been aired by Newington Community Television.
